Policy Initiatives

GSPP is growing its impact through new priority areas, including the following:

Democracy Policy

a pile of voting buttonsThe guardrails of American democracy are under threat. Public trust in elections, voting, and our core institutions is plummeting, and political violence and polarization are rising. With federal election reform unlikely in the near term, GSPP is developing feasible, effective, research-based interventions to strengthen election integrity, equip pro-democracy actors with tools and information, monitor and counter disinformation, and help rebuild public trust. Security Policy

Technology Policy

GSPP is partnering with the CITRIS Policy Lab in the transformative Tech Policy Initiative, which aims to strengthen multidisciplinary scholarly collaborations, foster tech policy education, and innovation, and inform effective tech-related policy strategies across the public and private sectors

Environmental Policy

The India Energy & Climate Center (IECC) at UC Berkeley’s Goldman School of Public Policy leverages clean energy technology and policy expertise at the world’s top public university, Silicon Valley, and the state of California to catalyze the rapid transformation of energy systems that can deliver significant environmental, economic, and energy security benefits.

Agile Government Initiativesix hands, each holding a lightbulb

Improving public service requires creativity, vision, and nimble adaptation to changing social conditions. GSPP’s Agile Government Initiative adapts leading project-management and team-organization methods to problem-solving in the public interest. Inside the academy, and among our communities of practice in the field, continuous cycles of learning and response re-energize our work and promote trust in government.
