Public Policy & Law

MPP/JD

Students may pursue a concurrent degree in law and public policy, which requires four years. At the end of the program the student will have earned both an MPP and a JD degree. The program requires separate applications and admission to the Goldman School of Public Policy and Berkeley Law. To obtain program materials from Berkeley Law contact the J.D. Admissions Office at admissions@law.berkeley.edu.

Career Opportunities

The majority of students graduating with an MPP/JD degree accept positions as attorneys or associates in private law firms. Some graduates assume legal positions in federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency or the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Others go on to secure higher positions in judiciary branches of local, state, and federal governments. A small percentage use both degrees to work in federal, state, and local agencies, as well as private and non-profit organizations.

MPP/JD PDST Semesters, Fees, and Enrollment Schedules

Students will be charged and pay three (3) semesters (1.5 years) of the GSPP PDST and five (5) semesters (2.5 years) of the Berkeley Law School PDST.
