Dan Kammen Named US Science Envoy

The US State Department annonced the appointment of Professor Dan Kammen as US science envoy. The program showcases science and tehcnology as engines of progress and economic growth, and as tools of diplomacy. 

"I am keen to assist the impressive suite of engagements that the State Department is already doing in this area, and to add what I can on the scientific, technical, and policy/social engagement sides," says Professor Kammen. "The opportunities to work with the Power Africa/Beyond the Grid/Energy Access agenda, the team working on the Central American Obama/Biden engagement initiative and the Development Lab/HESN and other efforts at USAID, and the wider Paris Accord are only a few of the avenues that I am delighted and honored to pursue."

Dan Kammen is the Class of 1935 Distinguished Professor of Energy in the Energy and Resources Group, the Goldman School of Public Policy, and the department of Nuclear Engineering. He is the founder and director of the Renewable and Appropriate Energy Lab (RAEL)
