Class MPP 2024

Leah focuses on climate change mitigation and adaptation as they relate to sustainable natural resource management, land use, and protective solutions for vulnerable people and ecosystems.

Leah has participated in the evidence-informed policy movement, supporting rigorous impact evaluations since 2013. She oversaw the design and implementation of smallholder agriculture, governance, and financial inclusion research programs as Associate Director of Research at UC Berkeley’s Center for Effective Global Action. Prior, she worked with global leadership at Innovations for Poverty Action to increase the number and impacts of randomized evaluations across their offices in Asia, Latin America, and Sub-Saharan Africa. This included a short-term assignment to support the survey design and launch of a study evaluating the impacts of an ultra-poor program in the Visayas and Mindanao regions of the Philippines. Other experience includes work with a microcredit NGO for Guatemalan women, independent research on political transitions in Bhutan, and field experience in Himachal Pradesh and Ladakh in India. Leah received her bachelor's degrees in International Studies and in Anthropology, specializing in International Development from Michigan State University in 2012.
