Class MPP 2025

My work lies at the intersection of local public finance, policy analysis, and urban/community development. I was a first-generation college student at the University of San Diego, where I earned a degree in Political Science. My undergraduate thesis explores themes in effective world leadership using former Czech president Václav Havel’s example. My subsequent work experience spans the worlds of local news and local government, which honed my skills in both policy communication and policy implementation.

After graduating from USD, I worked for a local newspaper, the Sacramento News & Review. In my role as Project Manager, I oversaw the production and distribution of hundreds of journalistic publications advocating for government programs on topics ranging from homelessness to climate change.

I then served as Environmental Planning & Housing Aide at Marin County, a first-of-its-kind position that helped bridge the gap between two important agency goals: improving affordable housing options and protecting development sites from undue environmental impacts. As part of my work at the County, I spearheaded the creation of staff training materials on Native American tribal engagement and presented our best practices alongside my colleagues at the 2023 Association of Environmental Professionals Conference. My experience at Marin County solidified my long-term commitment to ensuring efficiency, sustainability, and equity in local government programs.
