This program offers talented, yet economically disadvantaged students from Sub-Saharan Africa with comprehensive support for university education. Scholars selected for this program have a demonstrated commitment to social change in their communities and on the continent. The intention of this Program is to enable Scholars to return home after forming valuable professional connections through internship and job placements.
At UC Berkeley, this program will provide holistic support – financial, academic, social, and career counseling – for selected candidates. Applications will be accepted through the fall of 2028. While the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at UC Berkeley is not open to undergraduates, students at the undergraduate level are welcome to apply to the University of California, Berkeley.
To be considered for the MasterCard Foundation Scholars Program, graduate degree seekers must first be admitted to the university through the regular admissions process. After the graduate degree program admissions process is underway, the UCB Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program will invite prospective candidates to apply for the Scholarship.
