Goldman School of Public Policy - University of California, Berkeley

How To Apply

The Berkeley MPA program benefits experienced mid-career professionals who want to advance their careers and are poised to take on wider leadership and innovation roles in their workplaces and professional communities.

We seek candidates with leadership potential who will add to the richness of the classroom experience and engage in the wider Goldman School community. We value diversity of experience in our student body, so no specific industry, function, or background is preferred over another.

Successful candidates exhibit:

  • A high level of intellectual and academic performance
  • Leadership or managerial experience from the public, non-profit, or private sector demonstrating potential for a career in senior management
  • Personal attributes and life experience suggesting leadership, maturity, ethical character, teamwork, and goal orientation

The admissions committee will be most interested in the quality of your work experiences to date, your professional goals in seeking the Berkeley MPA degree, and your capacity and determination to take full advantage of the MPA experience. We will assess these through your CV/resume, your statement of purpose, your personal history statement, and the letters of recommendation.
