Laura was born outside of Beijing and grew up in Texas. After finishing her BBA at UT-Austin, she moved in Egypt to continue her studies in Arabic and governance. She has worked in the private, public, and nonprofit sectors through large foundations, consulting firms, and within both internationally focused and locally led NGOs, most recently at the World Resources Institute and the United Nations Children's Fund. Her research focuses on methodology, sustainable development, displacement, and post-conflict management. She speaks Mandarin, Arabic, and is proficient in Spanish.
