Shelly Gehshan is a policy consultant and certified coach. Her coaching practice focuses on helping young and mid-career professionals advance their careers, manage transitions and meet new challenges. She also consults on health policy topics for foundations and nonprofits. In 2015, she stepped down after seven years directing the Pew Charitable Trusts’ children’s dental campaign. Before joining Pew, she spent 20 years working for governors, state legislators and state health officials. Shelly started her career in Austin, Texas as a writer and editor for a weekly newspaper, and, after earning her MPP at the Goldman School, moved into nonprofit management and public affairs. Her best work is as the mother of two children who she will talk about at the slightest provocation; one is a GSPP graduate (2015) living and working in Oakland and the other is in a Master's program at Brandeis.
