Bettina Duval

Biography

Bettina Duval is the Founder and President of CALIFORNIALIST.  CALIFORNIALIST was founded in 2002 as a political action committee modeled after EMILY’s List, which helps to elect Democratic women running for statewide offices in California.  Since its inception, the organization has helped elect 56 women to statewide offices. In addition, five of the women that CALIFORNIALIST helped early in their careers in California politics are now serving in Congress. Bettina believes that it is important to build a pipeline of qualified women in order to achieve equality in our government.

Bettina also serves on the Board of Governors for the Boys & Girls Club of Santa Monica, serves on the University of California, Berkeley Parent Board, and is working with the UC Berkeley Athletic department to establishing an endowment for the Cal Women’s rowing program.  She is a member of the Berkeley Hall School Board of Trustees and is a member of the Everychild Foundation, and a Past President of the Junior League of Los Angeles. Bettina is also a founding board member of ACCION, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing college counseling to Latino high school students.

Bettina received her BA in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley. As Campus Coordinator of the Associated Students of UC Berkeley Student Body, her partnership with the League of Women Voters put an end to ballot tampering and other campaign violations, and recreated a fair and just electoral process.

Bettina is a mother of four: Bennett, Elizabeth, Annie, and Christopher, all of whom share her passion for political advocacy.  Anne rows for UC Berkeley and recently won a NCAA gold medal.  Christopher is an incoming freshman at Cal. Bettina resides in Santa Monica with her husband Glenn.
