In his role as a family education specialist with the California Endowment’s Building Healthy Communities (BHC) initiative, Oscar designed Parent Partners in Health and Education (PPIHE), which aims to educate and empower parents in creating positive, systematic, and sustainable policy changes for the school district and their children. As the program head, Oscar taught 80+ parents about the policy process, civil accountability, and the content of important policy areas.
Oscar’s work with BHC reflects his strong interests in education policy and community development. At the Goldman School, he looks forward to studying cost-benefit analysis and other courses that will better inform him about the budgeting process for education at the state level.
Oscar graduated Phi Beta Kappa from UC Santa Barbara in 2011, with a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish.
