This summer, Goldman School students interned at over 90 organizations around the world. Many of the internships were for government agencies and non-profits organizations in Washington DC, Sacramento and San Francisco, but students went as far as Asunción, Paraguay; Cape Town, South Africa; and Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Personal History: I was born in Portland, Oregon and have lived there my whole life except for 4 years in St. Louis and now my time in Berkeley. I come from a union family with gay parents and have always been attracted to public policy matters, economics and politics.
What attracted you to GSPP? The weather, the fantastic academic reputation and the progressive culture.
What was your professional background before GSPP and what do you look to do with your degree upon graduation? I have worked mostly in health care policy in Oregon. After graduating, I hope to use my skills in environmental policy to create incentives for personal behavior change.
What is your favorite thing about being a student in the Bay Area? Living in a college town that happens to also be adjacent to one of the world’s great cities.
In your view, what type of person will benefit from a GSPP education? Someone who is open minded about their views on the world and about the methods that we must use to solve our world’s problems.
What has been your favorite class? Energy and Society, with Dan Kammen.
Who is your favorite faculty member? Steve Raphael.
What is your best memory from GSPP? Doing the Harlem Shake as a class after finals.
