Learning at one of the best public universities in the world
“The Goldman School of Public Policy is known to be one of the best public policy schools in the world, with a strong emphasis on quantitative skills. Second, Berkeley is one of the best public universities in the world. As a civil servant, I feel that it is important to belong to an institution that stands for the idea of providing accessible, high-quality education to the people.
It's been almost 8 years since I started working in the public sector. After stints in portfolios that included social and economic policy, and as well as strategic planning and communications, I thought it was time to take stock of my career and upgrade my skills to chart the next lap.”
Imbuing us with lifelong skills
“I think the MPA's focus of imbuing us with lifelong skills such as the application of quantitative methods to policy analysis and honing our negotiation instincts will serve me very well in future leadership roles that I may take up in the public sector. The training I have received in the MPA will definitely put me in a good position to progress and take on a variety of roles across the government, given the all-rounded curriculum.
Goldman School instructors bring an admirable balance of head, heart and soul to the classroom. They are genuinely concerned about our learning process and that we take with us knowledge and skills which are applicable to the complex world of policymaking.”
Diverse backgrounds of peers enrich the learning process
“The eclectic and diverse mix of people from different countries, cultures and professional backgrounds. Also, the class brings to our discussions a good blend of expertise and ability of different kinds, enriching the learning process. I think we have made great friendships across cultures. Since we have transcended space, I don't see why these friendships won't stand the test of time!
The thing I like most about my class is the excellent blend of theoretical imagination, technical knowledge and practical understanding that are constantly on display during discussions that place inside and outside the classroom!”
