As California’s premier public institution of higher education, UC Berkeley is committed to partnering with local government throughout the Western US for improved public management. At the Berkeley Executive Seminar (BES) city managers, county administrators, regional directors, and other senior local government officials exchange and acquire tools for improving local government.
Participants enjoy a week of intense learning, discussion and discovery with fellow local leaders. The select group of participants will be exposed to new trends in public management, public policy and digital government. The program is designed to foster active participation and to provoke insightful discussion and debate among a close cadre of peers.
Upon completion of this certificate program the local officials will be prepared to return to their communities with new ideas and perspectives.
BES Program UPDATE:
This program, conducted by the Goldman School’s Executive and International Programs (EIP), is designed specifically for city managers, county executives, regional directors and other senior local government officials to provide them with new perspectives on strategic management and problem solving approaches.
EIP has revamped the BES program in conjunction with members of its advisory board, the BES alumni and California’s leading local government management organizations, including the California City Managers Department, the County Administrative Officers Association of California, the California chapter of the International City/ County Management Association, the California City Management Foundation, the California COG Directors Association, and the Municipal Management Assistants organizations of Northern and Southern California.
