YALI Washington Fellows on KQED’s Forum
Four of the 26 Washington Fellows of the Young African Leaders Program studying at the Goldman School this summer were interviewed on KQED's Forum with Michael Krasny.
From left: Chief Sbonelo Mkhize, Chair of the uThukela House of Traditional Leaders in South Africa, Zana Ouattara, co-director of the Bouake Caravan of Non-Violence in Cote D'Ivoire; Chundung Ashley Dauda, peace builder with the Women Without Walls Initiative in Northern Nigeria; and Elaine Muntongwizo Vere, attorney with the Zimbabwe Human Rights NGO Forum discussed civic leadership in their respective countries and fielded questions from callers.
The Young African Leadership Initiatve was launched by President Barack Obama to "give thousands of promising young Africans...the opportunity to come to the United States and develop [their] skills at some of our best colleges and universities." From 50,000 applicants, 500 were chosen to come and study in the United States. The Goldman School is pleased to host twenty-five Washington Fellows in their study of civic leadership.
