The Chancellor’s Challenge for Student Support

         A Campus Matching Gift Program
                                          Our Promise. Their Future.

Chancellor Robert Birgeneau has designed a new matching gift program to encourage faculty, emeriti faculty, staff, retired staff, their surviving spouses or partners, and student donations to Berkeley’s endowment. The Chancellor’s Challenge for Student Support will match gifts made by members of the campus community to any need-based scholarship or graduate fellowship fund.

Only with a strong public-private partnership can a public university of Berkeley’s stature maintain its preeminence over the long-term. And nothing is more critical to a university’s ongoing success than its endowment — the nation’s top-ranked universities are also the best endowed.

With this in mind, faculty and their families have generously established and endowed the named funds listed below to benefit GSPP students for generations to come.

Leverage the impact of your gift by endowing a fund in your own name, that of a loved one or favorite faculty member with a threshold gift of $10,000 or more,

OR contribute to one of the existing faculty funds with a gift in any amount.

Every gift made by a member of the campus community (see above) to a named fund (new or existing) will be matched by the Chancellor (up to $250,000) through June 30, 2012.
