The @Cal Online Alumni Community

@cal is the official online community for alumni of the University of California, Berkeley. The community is brought to you by the University of California, Berkeley and the California Alumni Association.

Like the campus and the alumni body it represents, @cal offers its members diverse entry points. Our community services are free to Cal grads and attendees, and to California Alumni Association members. Eligible students may participate in the Career Network.

Affiliate With GSPP

GSPP, along with 13 other schools and colleges at Cal, are partners in the community, providing its alumni with @cal pages specific to GSPP. These pages provide a unique entry to the @cal community, including GSPP-specific news and events. Once you are registered, you will be able to perform the following functions online:

Choose your preferred @cal opening page You may choose from:
  • Your campus
  • Your school or college (i.e. GSPP)
  • California Alumni Association home page
Update contact information Registered members can update contact information (both personal and professional) through this online community. Members can choose which information is visible to other community members. These are live updates.
Manage e-mail list subscriptions

Subscribe to and unsubscribe from any GSPP e-mail list as well as other lists administered by other campus departments that are open to any Cal alumnus
Sign up for lifetime e-mail forwarding. Choose from:

E-mail forwarding is a permanent e-mail address that follows you regardless of where you work or live. You can give out your @cal e-mail address to friends and colleagues, and have your mail forwarded to another e-mail account, such as your business or Hotmail account. Although your personal or business e-mail account may change, your @cal address stays the same.
Participate in the @cal Career Network The Career Network allows alumni and students to search for Networkers who have experience in their areas of interest. Networkers are alums who volunteer to share their expertise.

eDigest Submissions

GSPP's eDigest is a monthy media digest which lists upcoming events and recent examples of GSPP alumni, faculty and students in the news. Summaries of the articles follow a quick reference list. To submit news items for inclusion in the monthly eDigest, please email the eDigest editor. Click here to view recent digests.

E-mail Lists

All listservs are created and maintained by the Goldman School of Public Policy.

If you register as a member of the @Cal online community, you will be able to manage all listservs you are subscribed to online, as well as access other features to registered members. Otherwise, you may contact Cecille Cabacungan at goldalum@berkeley.edu regarding your listserv subscription(s), or complete an alumni directory update form to submit a request to change/update your subscriptions.

  • Register @cal to manage your subscription
    To make changes to your subscriptions, to subscribe to additional listservs, or unsubscribe from a listserv, you need to register in the @cal online community (Details about how to register are below). If you choose not to register in @cal, you must contact Cecille Cabacungan in order to manage your listserv subscriptions.

Once you are registered in the Community you will have:

  • Four methods of receiving your @cal email lists to choose from
    1. Web page: You will be able to view a web page with an archive of emails sent to the list (Note: Messages sent to the list prior to April 1 will not appear on the web archive.)
    2. Individual emails: You receive messages sent to the listserv as soon as it is sent.
    3. Daily thread: You receive one daily email with all emails sent to the list that day threaded into one long email.
    4. Daily attachment: You receive one daily email with individual attachments of all emails sent to the list that day.
  • Access to email lists of other UC Berkeley schools and colleges and the California Alumni Association.

    You will be able to subscribe to email lists sponsored by other Schools and Colleges or the California Alumni Association. Some lists are open to the entire @cal community, others are restricted to specific @cal members. All GSPP lists are only open for GSPP alumni.  All geographic listservs are moderated by GSPP to prevent SPAM.

    These moderated* lists are for GSPP staff and alumni to announce GSPP sponsored events in various geographic areas, as well as updates and news about the School.

    You will also receive GSPP's new e-mail digest, which summarizes upcoming events, alumni/faculty/students in the news, and other news surrounding GSPP.  Expected frequency of messages:

If you subscribe to more than one geographical listserv,  you will receive the same announcement multiple times.
